Refuge Du Lac Blanc (2352m), Chamonix - France
Refuge du Lac Blanc at 2 352 m7 717 ft above Chamonix sits inside the Aiguilles Rouges nature reserve and is one of the most photographed spots in the Alps. The lake gives a direct frontal view of the entire Mont Blanc massif - Mont Blanc (4 807 m15 771 ft), the Grandes Jorasses, the Chamonix Aiguilles and the Bossons Glacier - perfectly reflected in the water on calm days. It is not on the main TMB route but on a highly recommended variant above the Flégère cable car station. The refuge is small, fills fast, and accepts cash only. Bivouacking is strictly prohibited in the Lac Blanc zone.
